As a long time samsung user, i think, along with many other samsung users, it would be highly appreciated if we could get app lock in the next update. This would be seperate from the secure folder, something like ios or xioami phones have.
This is a very common request among long-time Samsung users. Many people want a simple, built-in App Lock feature that functions like those found on other Android devices (such as Xiaomi) or iOS, allowing you to lock individual apps with a PIN, password, or biometric scan without moving them into the separate and more complex Secure Folder.
Currently, Samsung does not offer this specific feature natively within One UI. The Secure Folder is Samsung's current, highly secure implementation for isolating sensitive apps and data.
Why Samsung hasn’t added it yet:
Samsung likely considers the Secure Folder as their comprehensive security solution. It not only locks apps but also creates a completely separate, encrypted sandbox environment, making it much more robust than a simple app locker. They may be hesitant to add a less secure, potentially redundant feature.
Thanks for the reply, i understand that samsung takes their security very seriously and this is highly appreciated, but most people just want an applock for theor existing apps , such as gallery or Instagram just for a simpler security feature for when u give ur phone to a friend to watch a video or etc. The app lock that us users are anticipating is simply for personal security and not to keep data hidden from online hackers etc.
