Tech TalkSamsung released the latest Android 15-based OneUI 7 to the Galaxy S24 series in selected regions. This update brings dozens of new features, improvements, and tweaks but lacks an expected privacy feature called individual AppLock.
Samsung’s OneUI is a powerful package of convenient features, animation, AI-powered capabilities, and more. However, it lacks a basic privacy feature called individual applock, which means Galaxy users can’t lock their apps individually. Currently, Samsung offers a primary method to move the app to Secure Folder, which is a secure enclave that needs additional authentication, which consumes time and seems inconvenient.
Noticeably, individual app locking is available in the Chinese version, which suggests that Samsung could bring this feature to upcoming updates, especially when users are aggressively demanding.
The ability to lock individual apps would be efficient for various scenes; for instance, protecting sensitive and personal information and preventing unauthorized access. Galaxy users have been asking for this convenient privacy app-locking feature, while Samsung is still working on OneUI 7 and has yet to release the stable version, so it could be possible that it could bring this feature in future updates.
Regarding this demand, a OneUI 7 beta team member has responded that the suggestion is currently being evaluated by the project manager. The individual applock is not a major feature for Samsung since it has already offered it in the Chinese version. It remains to be seen whether Samsung will offer this feature in the coming OneUI 7 beta update.
