1. Pin Important Conversations

Never lose track of your key chats by pinning them to the top of your inbox. To pin a conversation:

Long-press the chat you want to pin.

Tap the Pin icon that appears at the top. Your pinned chats will always be easily accessible.

2. Schedule Messages

Need to send a message later but want to ensure you don’t forget? Use the Schedule Message feature.

Compose your message.

Tap the + icon or three-dot menu.

Select Schedule Message and pick the date and time. Samsung Messages will send it automatically at your specified time.

3. Message Categories

Organize your chats like a pro using Message Categories.

Navigate to Settings > Categories in Samsung Messages.

Create custom categories such as Work, Family, or Friends.
This helps declutter your inbox and makes finding specific messages easier.

4. Custom Notifications for Contacts

Set unique notification tones for different contacts to identify senders without looking at your phone.

Open a conversation, tap the three dots > Notification Settings.

Choose a custom sound or even set silent alerts for specific contacts.

5. Star Important Messages

Never lose track of critical information like addresses or meeting times.

Long-press a specific message in a chat and select the Star icon.

Access all starred messages by tapping the three-dot menu > Starred Messages in the app.

6. Use Quick Replies

Respond to messages in a flash with Quick Replies.

When you receive a message, swipe down on the notification, and you'll see predefined responses such as "I'm busy" or "Call you later."

Customize quick responses by going to Settings > Quick Replies.

7. Search Like a Pro

Use the powerful search feature to find old messages, media, or links instantly.

Tap the Search bar at the top and enter keywords, names, or dates.

The app will pull up all matching results, including attachments.

8. Block Spam and Unwanted Contacts

Samsung Messages includes robust spam protection:

Long-press a conversation and tap Block.

To report spam messages, tap the three-dot menu > Settings > Block Numbers and Spam.

9. Rich Media Features

Samsung Messages supports rich media, making it easy to share photos, videos, GIFs, and more:

Tap the + icon in the message input area to attach files, create GIFs, or share your location.

Use the Camera option to take photos directly within the app.

10. RCS Chat Features

If both sender and receiver have RCS (Rich Communication Services) enabled, Samsung Messages offers features similar to instant messaging apps, such as:

Typing indicators.

Read receipts.

Sending large files over Wi-Fi or data.
To enable RCS:

Go to Settings > Chat Settings > Enable Chat Features.

11. Dark Mode for Comfort

Reduce eye strain and conserve battery with Dark Mode.

Turn it on through your phone’s general Settings > Display > Dark Mode.
Samsung Messages will follow your system theme, switching to a sleek dark interface.

12. Sync Across Devices

Sync messages across Samsung devices with your Samsung Account:

Go to Settings > Accounts and Backup > Samsung Cloud.

Enable sync for messages to view them on any linked Samsung device.

13. Delete Old Messages Automatically

Save storage space with automatic message deletion:

Navigate to Settings > Delete Old Messages.

Enable this option to keep your inbox clutter-free.

14. Secret Mode with Secure Folder

For added privacy, use Secure Folder to hide sensitive conversations:

Open Secure Folder (enable it through Settings > Biometrics and Security if not already active).

Move conversations to the Secure Folder for extra protection.

15. Backup Messages

Avoid losing your messages by backing them up regularly:

Go to Settings > Accounts and Backup > Backup Data.

Select Messages and back them up to Samsung Cloud.

16. Quick Access to Emojis and Stickers

Make your chats lively with emojis and stickers:

Tap the smiley icon in the message input field to access stickers, GIFs, and emojis.

Download additional sticker packs from the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Which of these features are you most excited to try? Let us know in the comments!

Samsung itself prompts users to switch to Google Messages instead of Samsung Messages as their default SMS app.
