By mistake, I clicked on the 'Optimise' button and the app started doing its things that I don't want:

There should be a CONFIRMATION pop-up before proceeding.

For a moment I literally got scared it would delete some of my files that such cleaning programs tend to delete.

They can provide a setting that asks for confirmation then. People can tap on it by mistake, like i did.

My Device care screen looks like this... And I don't bother to click on Fix Now... 🙃
.
What you are saying is something that should be made a separate thing - a cleaner app, which is already there - Storage Booster. This is the one which delete files and unnecessary data (could be necessary sometimes)... 😬Screenshot_20220605-152921_Device care.jpg

I don't like apps to blindly delete cache or close apps, which is commonly done by such optimisation apps.

I don't remember what it did, but so far as I haven't seen any files lost.

As with LP, I don't know what you use it for. But it can do a lot of things that one mustn't do.
