Galaxy Techfluencer topic for the week: Carrier Aggregation
Carrier Aggregation (CA) is the ability to combine multiple carriers to expand the spectrum bandwidth. CA is a new feature of LTE Advanced which helps the users with increased data speeds (both in uplink and downlink).

Tech TalkIf carrier aggregation is used, the device may receive and transmit on multiple carriers, but reception on multiple carriers is typically only needed for the highest data rates. It is therefore beneficial to inactivate reception of carriers not used while keeping the configuration intact. Activation and inactivation of component carriers can be done through MAC signaling (more specifically, MAC control elements, discussed in Section 6.4.4.1) containing a bitmap where each bit indicates whether a configured SCell should be activated or deactivated.

Tech TalkCarrier aggregation is probably the most important thing that is happening in mobile. CA Extends the maximum transmission bandwidth, up to 100 MHz by aggregating up to 5 LTE carriers known as component carriers. Lack of sufficient contiguous spectrum forces use of carrier aggregation to meet peak data rate targets 1 Gbps in the downlink and 500 Mbps in the uplink. CA achieve wide bandwidth transmissions,Facilitate efficient use of fragmented spectrum, Efficient interference management for control channels in strange network.
