This post is about a configuration change in My Files app.

I'm not sure if this is an oversight, but showing files from hidden folders or folders with .nomedia files in the default libraries or recent files list is a bad idea.

Some of my WhatsApp friends send me files that are of a private nature. These files automatically go inside a folder called Private inside the WhatsApp media folder.

Unfortunately, these files show up both inside the libraries as well as in the Recent files list of My Files app. This despite the setting to not show hidden files. That setting implicitly should also hide files inside hidden folders or folders with a .nomedia file in them.

Same holds true for other folders with a .nomedia file in them.

Kindly fix this.

That could explain it. But do check for the other folders i mentioned above. May be they haven't paid attention to this yet.

Yes u right, pdf file, docx etc shows up in recent list.

But u click that 3 dots n uncheck the recent list,.like this then it won't show in My files App.

Hiding files in hidden folders (or those with a .nomedia file in it) would be the correct way to go.

Disabling the Recent Files list does not address the other problem of those files continuing to show up in the Documents library.

I don't think they'd do this, coz there's already a secure folder for people for want to hide sensitive files even tho that's device based feature. But they should try to give this to the My files to the people whose phone doesn't support secure folder.
It would be win win for both.

They should just keep things simple and let the user choose how he wants to use his device. Forcing something should be left to Apple, as this is what Android is known for: flexibility!

Yes bud Android is made for flexibility, but when manufacturers release their devices they'd purposefully skip some features from some series/models n sometimes give those features to other series, it's their way of differentiating series n might be a successful business model for them, Maybe they'll improve my files only if more people want n ask for this feature so🤞🏼,
Also they won't keep it simple n give people the options now , we already have seen it when apple removed 3.5mm jack n called it "courage"😔, but we all know they only did that to promote their airpods that launched at the same time, n next thing u see samsung does the same even tho Android users love that 3.5mm jack n the whole point of android like u said is options & flexibility, and look at now we don't get chargers, headphones, n they're just simply saying it's for saving environment but in reality it's saving them billions every year.

So yes if more people want this feature we might get it but the last decision is theirs n honestly it's bit disappointing to the customers.
Choices like these are one reason why Xiaomis are getting way ahead of Samsung in some markets including India coz they still provide many features skipped by the big brands.
