After the recent software update, my samsung note 8's proximity sensor stopped working.
Is it because of any software issues or hardware problem. How can I check this.

Please help.

This may help you.
To check proximity sensor working. Dial
*#0*#
on your phone. Then click sensor and to test , place your palm close to sensor which may be placed near front camera or cover the most of the palm covering the phone top bezel surface. If it recognise it may change the display colour and vibrate then proximity sensor is working fine.
