Samsung has officially confirmed that the Galaxy S23 series will receive the stable One UI 8 (Android 16) update in October 2025. Based on sources and the expected rollout schedule, the global update may begin around 2nd October, and in India it should arrive in the first week of October. So very soon, the Indian variant will also receive this update.

Meanwhile, the stable One UI 8 update has already started rolling out in South Korea, first for users who were part of the One UI Beta Program, officially ending the beta phase.

469 MB...
It seems like a security update.

It may look like a small security patch, but it’s actually the stable One UI 8 (Android 16) update for beta users in Korea. Since they were already on the beta build, the final package is smaller (around 469 MB). For non-beta users, the full update size will be much larger — usually around 3.0–3.5 GB.

I also updated to beta but rolled back due to degraded telephoto picture quality and not much new features, though I liked the new dex

Thanks for sharing your experience! I didn’t join the One UI 8 beta on my Galaxy S25 Ultra because this is my primary phone and it’s still new, so I didn’t want to risk bugs or spoil the fresh device experience. Totally agree with you about the new DeX, it’s one of the best parts of One UI 8!

Currently, this stable One UI 8 update is only available in South Korea, not globally. From what I’ve found online, the Now Brief feature is not included for the Galaxy S23 series in this release. It looks like Samsung enabled Now Brief mainly for newer models such as the Galaxy S24 series and foldables.

We’ll have the final answer once the global rollout begins (expected around 2nd October). Personally, I really hope Samsung adds Now Brief to the S23 during the global release because the S23 is a flagship and it would be great to get this feature.
