Google announced the Android 13 Go Edition for highly affordable phones. Well, the best thing about Android 13 Go Edition is that, it brings many new features to users with popular "Material You" design language for budget phones. Material You means you can apply color themes that reflect your wallpaper, even on a budget phone.

Although it will only give you 4 color templates to choose from (instead of 16 in the full version of Android), it's best to have something that nothing. In the official blog, Google showed the application of the Material You theme on the lock screen and quick settings. While Material You is available from Android 12, last year's Go Edition has jumped to include other important features. At last, it is finally here.

You are directed to the Google Discover feed when you drag on the homescreen. Here, users will be able to view organized articles as well as other streams.. Several other features are available in the full version as well. This includes notification permissions as well as language preferences by application. Android 13 Go Edition phones will become available from 2023.

The Android 13 Go Edition also supports Google Play system updates. This feature is important because it will ensure that even your budget phones regularly receive important software updates through the Play Store in addition to Android firmware updates.

Google notes that "this won't compromise the storage available on the device," which is nice considering it's aimed at budget phones that don't have huge storage options.

However, there is a requirement that a budget phone would have to satisfy in order to be able to receive Android 13 Go Edition. Google requires at least 2 GB of RAM for Android Go hardware, which shouldn't be a problem, as even budget phones have 4 GB of RAM nowadays.

Android Go is currently installed on over 250 million devices, and Google expects Android 13 Go to be available on devices in 2023.
