Tablets1. WhatsApp permissions or bug
2. Wi-Fi sleep/power saving settings
3. Tablet’s software or firmware glitch
4. Conflict with Wi-Fi Calling or VoIP settings
5. Network hardware (router) issue during high-demand traffic like video calls
---
✅ Step-by-Step Fixes
---
✅ 1. Check App Permissions
Ensure WhatsApp has full access to network-related permissions:
Go to Settings → Apps → WhatsApp
Tap Permissions and Allow for:
Camera
Microphone
Nearby devices
Battery Usage → Set to “Unrestricted” or “Not optimized”
---
✅ 2. Turn Off Battery & Network Optimizations
Samsung's One UI sometimes puts apps or Wi-Fi to sleep.
Settings → Battery → Background usage limits
Disable Put unused apps to sleep
Add WhatsApp to Never sleeping apps
Settings → Wi-Fi → Tap the ⚙ next to your Wi-Fi network
Turn off “Turn off Wi-Fi automatically”
Disable MAC randomization if enabled
---
✅ 3. Turn Off Wi-Fi Power Saving Mode
Samsung tablets have Wi-Fi power-saving features that can interfere with video calls.
Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi
Tap the 3-dot menu → Advanced
Disable “Wi-Fi power saving mode” if it's on
---
✅ 4. Check Router Settings (if possible)
Some routers have aggressive QoS (Quality of Service) or frequency switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz that can drop the connection during VoIP:
Try setting your Wi-Fi to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz only (not both) to prevent switching mid-call
Ensure WPA2/WPA3 security, not outdated WEP
---
✅ 5. Reinstall WhatsApp
There might be a corrupt install or glitch:
Uninstall WhatsApp
Reboot your tablet
Reinstall from the Google Play Store
---
✅ 6. Update Everything
Make sure:
WhatsApp is the latest version
Your tablet’s software is up to date:
Settings → Software Update → Download and Install
---
✅ 7. Clear Network Settings (Non-Destructive)
Settings → General Management → Reset → Reset Network Settings
This will reset Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile settings but won’t erase your data
---
🧪 Optional Test
Try using WhatsApp Web from a browser on the tablet (if it supports camera).
Does it still drop Wi-Fi during calls?
If yes, it’s likely a system-level or hardware issue.
---
🛠 If None of That Works:
1. Backup and factory reset the tablet (last resort).
2. Visit a Samsung Service Center to check for a Wi-Fi chip issue or known bug.
3. Report the bug to Samsung via the Samsung Members app → Get Help → Error Reports
