you can't get Dex mode but you can get it through root or by installing the one ui 2.5 through root. I recommend you to not root your phone because only 10% out of 100% root is successful.

1. M 31 would not support Dex even with a trick.
2. If you want to root your device to add one UI 2.5, which update would you install? Do you think you'll be able to install an update of S series to an M series? That's silly and would brick your device.
3. Even if you get an official update of one UI 2.5 for M series, that wouldn't add Dex functionality to M series.
