If you have been paying attention, Samsung changed the way it names its Galaxy A series phones this year. The Galaxy A phones launched so far in 2019 come with double-digit numbers like the Galaxy A10, A20, A30, A50, A70, and A80, as opposed to single digit names that Samsung had been using until last year. The company is planning to continue this double-digit naming scheme in 2020 as we have now chanced upon the possible names of Galaxy A phones set to launch next year.
Samsung has filed for nine trademarks for its 2020 Galaxy A phones with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Next year, Samsung will announce successors to the current Galaxy A lineup, which is possibly why they will be called Galaxy A11, A21, A31, A41, A51, A61, A71, A81, and A91.
The Galaxy A11, for example, is expected to be a budget successor to the Galaxy A10, while the Galaxy A51 could be a mid-range Galaxy A50 successor. Beyond the names, there is nothing that we know about these 2020 Galaxy A phones as of now. They may offer updated designs and specs, but we can only speculate for now. Interestingly, Samsung is yet to launch a Galaxy A90, but the application for A91 suggests Samsung has one more premium Galaxy A phone up its sleeve for this year.
In addition to double digit names, Samsung is also planning to release phones with the letter 's' attached to mark them as variants/ versions of existing devices. For example, we recently reported on a Galaxy M20s smartphone that will be based on the Galaxy M20 but will offer a larger 5,830mAh battery. Similarly, reports are rife that Samsung will also launch the Galaxy A20s, Galaxy A30s and Galaxy A70s in India that will be versions of the Galaxy A20, A30 and A70, respectively. These phones are expected to look similar to the original models but with slightly improved specs.
I don't care what Samsung's doing in upcoming years but the current mid rangers are just disgusting A50 had some good on paper specifications and it came out to be just average. If Samsung's gonna keep doing this same cheating in their upcoming years and models they'll lose their brand value just like nokia did i'm afraid....
