take proper backup and reset/format your device

Check recently installed apps and uninstall unnecessary apps..
Also, perform reset apps preferences once

A new phone should not hang as you mention....anyway as it's brand new you can reset the device once and see how it goes....or else contact the customer service

i am using m31 for 3 months now and i am medium to heavy user, means multiple apps at once ,till now it isn't hanging. New phones shouldn't hang for few months. try uninstalling unsecured apps if u have installed,or do reset once if there is no issue
