The reason why they have dark grey over pure black is readability and eye fatigue.
A pure black background kills all light emitting from the screen, and this makes the eye work harder and open wider since it needs to absorb more light. This would then lead to something known as halation... where these white letters bleed into the black and causes it to be blurred.
For OLED screens.

actually reason is if it will totally dark then you can't feel amazing display tint by hangsung 🤣🤣🤣
