OthersWe saw a vague glimpse of it last year, and it's here now in an official way. Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Fold, its foldable smartphone-tablet hybrid design. It will be available for $1980 (₹ 1,41,000) from April 26. It comes with the Galaxy Buds bundled in the box.
When closed it's a centred 4.6-inch display for one-handed usage. When opened up, the 7.3-inch screen can display three apps at the same time, with one in a tall state and two stacked on the side. Honestly, it looks great. Even though Samsung calls it a smartphone, it's quite large in the unfolded state.
The key to using the device in multiple modes is called App Continuity, where compatible apps open seamlessly from phone to full-screen mode. Samsung showed how it would work with apps such as Google Maps - the map automatically opens in the full screen when you unfold the phone. Same with YouTube and other apps.
The Galaxy Fold is powered by a 7nm processor of an unspecified SoC, and has 12GB RAM. It comes with UFS 3.0 storage. There's so much room on this device, Samsung has managed to cram in six cameras - three on the back, two on the inside and one on the front. Essentially, you can shoot photos in any mode you use. The speakers are tuned by AKG. It comes four colors - black, silver, blue and green - with personalized hinge colors. You will be able to get in LTE or 5G models.
