I was all excited to see the update come through on my tab S6 this morning, and thrilled that Gmail's dark mode was finally actually dark. Yay!

Then I went to try to write something. 

Not-yay.

Now I want nothing more than to go back to the old version. Handwriting seems to have been ruined - or at least thoroughly gimped.

I'm going to try to get used to it (because, hell, what choice do I have?) & see if my opinion changes over time, but based on first impressions they seem to have stripped out anything and everything that allowed for using handwriting to edit text.

Losing the ability to cross out text is what's hitting me the hardest right now. Having to move from the handwriting panel, tap on wherever the entered text went to, and then backspace through it is a huge step backwards from being able to just draw a line through it in the input box, watch it disappear, and then carry on writing.
