OthersUnlike iOS, the adoption rate of the newer versions of the Android OS is very slow. While Google is trying to fix with the Project Treble, the manufacturer active participation is also needed for its success. As of now, there are only a handful of manufacturers including OnePlus and Nokia who have announced Treble support for their complete portfolio. Even the faster roll-out of Android 9.0 Pie update is happening because of the several Treble-compliant smartphones in the market.
The manufactures can directly push the new Android OS update with without having to make any tweaks to the vendor implementation. The developers can also take advantage by running the same Generic System Image (GSI) on different Treble-compliant devices. While all the upcoming Android versions will be supporting project Treble out of the box, we should also expect faster software update for all the devices.
