In early 2022, The New York Times acquired Wordle and integrated it into its games lineup, ensuring that its simplicity and gameplay remained unchanged.
Many UK-based players simply play the original Wordle, but some sites offer Wordle clones that cater to UK spelling and vocabulary for a more localized experience. Some fans have even made spin-offs with themes specific to British culture and slang, enhancing the sense of national identity in gameplay.
