Hello Members, Happy Friday!!

Now that the Fold 7 is soon to be released, and with all the le*ks surfacing up online from Renders to Specifications, I’m contemplating on finally switching from the Notes / S Ultra series to the “Phablet / Foldables” world, and I don’t remember the last time I was that excited or intrigued to find out what will be announced or released!!

I used to have the Nokia Communicator, in all its variants, from the 1st model released, to the slimmer colored screen ones. Foldable phones are something I always liked, but was never encouraged to buy with the current specifications on the market.

Samsung was the Pioneer manufacturer that ventured in the Foldable world, and as usual, it’s always the “All Round Phone”, not the best, but the one that ticks all the boxes and considered the “Jack Of Al Trades”.

The Z Fold Series evolved throughout the years, and lots of companies followed Samsung’s path, with amazing devices, large batteries, great displays, barely visible creases, etc.

I will go over today what is currently preventing me from upgrading or switching to the Samsung Foldable Phones Universe, and what will it take for me to change my mind.

Personal Subjective Reasons Why I Did Not Switch Yet:

  1. Price: I don’t mind paying the money, as long as I’m getting my money’s worth, and it ticks all the boxes, in its current Design and Specs, it’s over-priced, compared to what you are getting elsewhere from other manufacturers.
  2. Build Quality: It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a sensitive delicate device, that has screens inside out, and a hinge, it’s like everything needs to be taken care of, and needs to always have your guard up, I don’t need additional anxiety for an investment that costs a left kidney.
  3. Phone width: I will not use it open at the office, walking around in front of everyone holding a tablet. So most of my day, it has to be folded, and the width is very narrow compared to the S Ultra / Notes series.
  4. Battery: Bigger inner display, 2 screens = more consumption. I know the Snapdragon now is very efficient, but the battery technology currently used is behind most manufacturers, and the new Carbon Silicon tech is here, a slimmer and bigger battery should be used.
  5. Inner Display: Between the Crease and the sensitivity of the material used, I know that my fingernails will probably mark all the screen, while it’s not self-healing, and it’s practically impossible to install a screen protector, that’s a field they definitely need to develop.
  6. S-Pen: 2 things here, 1st, no built in S-Pen, we need to buy it separately, and embed it in the cover instead of the phone. 2nd, basic features, no Bluetooth…
  7. Resale value: This is related to point 2, with the trade in programs available, there’s no way to avoid having the phone classified as Grade A, you will scratch it, dent it, have some sort of damage or fingernail traces on the inner screen that might decrease the value.
  8. Selfie Camera: The inner selfie cam, in 2025, is ridiculously average, when it was under display, while other manufacturers took this to another level.
  9. Main camera sensor: The 200MP sensor has been the same on the S series for the past years, only improving the images through software, but for some reason on the Fold series, the quality is not as good as long as an old sensor is being used.
  10. Unboxing Experience: for 2000$ you can throw in a charger with a braided cable, have a better more luxurious premium box…

What Samsung Needs To Change For Me To Switch:

  1. Battery: Move to the SI/C batteries technology (rum*red to arrive to the S26 series) which allows a slimmer more powerful battery, creating maybe a space for the S-Pen inside the phone? Here’s an article from GSMArena about this topic: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_to_bring_galaxy_s26_with_siliconcarbon_batteries-news-66474.php
  2. Phone Size: Wider outer screen, thinner. (Done on the Fold 6 Limited Edition)
  3. S-Pen: Ability to inset it in the phone not the cover, with Bluetooth technology.
  4. Inner Display: Make the crease less visible (Done on the Fold 6 Limited Edition), with a self-healing screen protector.
  5. Main Camera: Bring the 200MP sensor or something close to it, that with the help of AI and the software, will provide better photos. (Done on the Fold 6 Limited Edition)
  6. Selfie Camera: Have an under-display camera with better quality. (Done on the Fold 6 Limited Edition)
Please Make sure to watch this video that showcases the Fold 6 Special Edition which was released on October 21st 2024 exclusively for the Korean market, and compares it to the Fold 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOvVLeaZ1lM

because if those Fold 6 Special Edition features come to the Fold 7, along with more improvements in the future (Fold8) married with the OneUI, it will be the best foldable phone on the market, topping even the S Ultra Series, and claiming the Flagship Power House Title. Why is that? Because none foldable phones reached a technological and evolutionary saturation in terms of hardaware, while the foldable phones world has endless improvements areas. (Please note that the Fold 6 Special Edition doesn’t have an S-Pen compatibility)

I’m super hyped and excited to see what the future holds, and what improvements Samsung will bring to the Fold 7.

Let me know your thoughts, and what would it take for you to switch to the Fold 7, especially if it ticks all your boxes, along with what would you like to see as a new feature / upgrade, and finally what should Samsung to bring from its other power house devices to the upcoming Fold 7?

COUNTING THE DAYSSSSSS.
