Galaxy Z FoldThank you for contacting us.
You need to perform the troubleshooting steps below to solve the problem. After completing all the steps, check to see if the issue is resolved or if it still exists.
-
Optimize the Cover Screen Settings
The cover screen is a major power consumer due to its high refresh rate and brightness.
-
Lower Refresh Rate: Go to Settings > Display > Motion smoothness. Select "Standard" (60Hz) instead of "Adaptive" (120Hz) as a test to see if the drain improves.
-
Reduce Brightness: The cover screen can get very bright. Keep your auto-brightness on, or manually lower the brightness level in standard lighting conditions.
-
Check Always On Display (AOD): AOD uses the cover screen continuously. Go to Settings > Lock screen and AOD > Always On Display. Set it to "Tap to show" or disable it completely to save power.
-
Identify Background Apps (Cover Screen Specific)
Some apps might run unnecessarily in the background when the phone is folded.
-
Review Cover Screen Launcher Activity: Some third-party launchers for the cover screen might be battery hogs. Stick to the default One UI Home experience initially.
-
Limit Background Usage for Non-Essential Apps: Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits. Put non-essential apps into "Deep sleep" to prevent them from running in the background.
-
General Post-Update Tweaks (Most Common Fix)
The Z Fold 7 likely came with recent updates installed. The phone needs time to optimize.
-
Wipe the Cache Partition: This process clears corrupted temporary files and often resolves performance/battery issues after major updates or first setup. Turn off your phone and connect it to a computer with a USB cable. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously until the Samsung logo appears. In Recovery Mode, use the volume keys to select "Wipe cache partition" and the power key to confirm. Select "Yes", then "Reboot system now".
-
Run Galaxy App Booster: Download Good Guardians from the Galaxy Store. Install and run Galaxy App Booster to optimize all apps.
-
Check for Hardware Issues
If you've tried all software tweaks and the battery still drains rapidly within a few days of use, your device may have a hardware fault (e.g., a faulty battery cell).
