Water damage is not included in warranty policies, you will have to pay for repairing.

Almost all the devices with IP68 rating are water resistant not water proof. that means our devices can only prevent water damage to a certain limits like 1.5 Meters depth and 30 minutes and it is tested in pure distilled water. In our day to day use its not the same many other factors is there. So its not practical to provide warranty to water damages.

Cant agree completely with you. IP68 is an awesome feature, and personally i have used my phone under water for capturing videos and can confidently use it in rains. But in other devices without IP rating we will never get that confidence. IP68 is really upto to the hype only problem is that it is not covered in warranty 😅. There are Caterpillar brand devices which is completely water proof, hopefully in the future Samsung will introduce that😀

Greetings from Samsung Customer Support!

As per your concern, we want to inform you Devices backed by an international standard rating of IP68 are deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt, and sand, and are resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes. The devices with an IP68 rating are water resistant not waterproof.
Note: Based on test conditions for submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Not advised for beach or pool use.

5ATM water resistance classification certification: This was tested by submerging the device in 50 m of fresh water for 10 minutes, leaving it still, without any movement, to meet the requirements of ISO 22810:2010.

As you have inspected your device from the service center team end and they have confirmed that there is physical damage in your phone the cost for repair is applicable if you want further information please share contact details on the Samsung Members Application (Open Samsung Members Application > Support> Ask question > Type your query > Send).
