I heard all galaxy s20 variants are capable to have e-sim in hardware perspective but not enabled in software. Any idea when that would be enabled?

No bro, Indian S20 series have physical 2nd sim slot so its stupid to ask for eSim compatibility. (I guess).

eSIM is useful if you want to have two SIMs and a microsd card at the same time. 5G S20 Ultra in Germany etc comes with eSIM enabled along with the full physical slot, so it's just a manual restriction Samsung has put on the LTE variants.

Again, if they need dual SIM + microSD. Samsung could easily enable eSIM but they won't so it's a moot point anyway.

eSIM are beneficial only in USA, where phones are having carrier lock, and sometimes unlocked variants have eSIM. In India smartwatches like Galaxy Watch have eSIM.
