After disabling 'separate contact list'
> Open your second WhatsApp.
> Press the big green button 🟩 at the bottom.
> Click on the three dots menu from the top.
>Click REFRESH.
Let's see what happens.

Goto settings>advanced features>Dual messenger.
From the available apps list, TURN OFF WhatsApp.
After that make sure 'separate contacts list' is in OFF position.
Now TURN ON WhatsApp again.
Then go to your second WhatsApp and REFRESH your contacts.
Hope it helps.

This seems to be some complicated.
Feels like you are well bothered too. Please try this final attempt, in the correct sequence.
1. Goto to dual messenger and disable your second WhatsApp.
2. Open your 'contacts' from your APPSCREEN.
3. Open the tray at the top left.
4. Click on the first item (contacts to display) (just below the ⚙ icon)
5. Click on 'All contacts'.
6. Goto your first WhatsApp.
Refresh contacts. (Wait until it says contacts list updated)
7. Goto settings>dual messenger and check 'separate contacts list is OFF'
8. Install second WhatsApp
9. Refresh contacts. (Wait until it says contacts list updated)
10. Check the number of contacts at the top.
11. Check the number of contacts of your first WhatsApp.
