That means you do not really really know what the "Do Not Disturb" feature means.
When turned on, DND will mute incoming calls, text messages, and app notifications. This means you won't hear a sound nor feel a vibration.
Things will come in the phone, but if your phone is switched off you will not get disturbed by notifications that come in. But the key part is "things willl come in"
You are confusing it with airplane mode. This is wear all wireless communication is turned off. That is airplane - where all wireless communication is turned off.
I used the word "wireless" for a reason because for example, if you switch flight mode on, wireless communication notifications will not come in but if an alarm is set, then it will ring at the set time as it is not a wireless communication. I hope you get me.
So:
Flight mode: disconnect every wireless communication.✅️
D not disturb: silence everything that is coming it.
So back to your question - to make your phone unavailable and disconnected, switch to flight mode.
I hope I was able to make you see the diff.🙏

DND still allows whatsapp calls to ring on my Watch 7. My phone doesn't get notifications but my watch does and DND settings are in sync on phone and watch. I literally have to put my watch on silent. I've complained about this to samsung but they were of no use.
I'll end up letting WhatsApp know about this😂

It's probably got to do with your DND settings?
