FYI, the fingerprint vulnerability had to do with those stupid cases and screen protectors...

Even Samsung has issued a statement requesting not to use any random screen protectors or cases... There is no error that needs to be fixed...

The S10, S10+, Note 10 and the Note 10+ uses an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that makes use of sound waves... It sends sound waves through the screen and uses the sound waves that gets reflected by our finger to calculate and store the ridges on our finger in an encrypted chip on the phone... That is how the technology works!!! If there is something in between the finger and the reader that obstructs the sound waves then the fingerprint reader will read the obstruction instead of the actual fingerprint... Thats obvious... And when u set up a fingerprint after applying such a screen protector or a cheap silicon case that creates an imprint of your fingerprint on itself, the scanner then scans the obstruction or the imprint on the silicon case and that is what gets saved as the fingerprint instead of the person's actual fingerprint and hence it works with anyone's finger when they try to unlock it....

Inspite of this not being a fault on Samsung's part they are trying to avoid this from happening by issuing an update for the fingerprint scanner which is supposed to differentiate between an actual finger and these obstructions...

And on any given day, Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner is way more secure than any optical fingerprint scanner... I am happy that Samsung used them on their Flagships this year...
