Check Lock Screen Notification Settings

Go to: Settings > Lock screen > Notifications

Make sure “Notifications” is enabled.

Tap on “Notifications” and choose “Details” or “Icons”, depending on what you want.

Make sure “Show content” is selected (not just “Icons only”).
Galaxy S
Enable “Wake screen for notifications”

Samsung sometimes hides this: Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures

Toggle “Turn on screen for notifications” or “Lift to wake” or “Double tap to wake”.

If you don’t see this option, go to: Settings > Display > Edge screen > Edge lighting

Enable Edge lighting, and then set it to show when screen is off.
Galaxy S
Enable “Brief Pop-up” Notifications

Go to: Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style

Select “Brief”

Tap “Included apps” and make sure your messaging apps (e.g. WhatsApp, Messages) are turned on.

Also, enable Edge lighting style here if you want a visual effect when the screen is off.

This issue is usually linked to notification and lock screen settings, not a hardware fault. Since you’re able to hear the notification sound, it means the phone is receiving them, but the screen wake/display alert isn’t enabled.

Please try these steps:

1. Check Lock Screen Notifications

Go to Settings → Notifications → Lock screen notifications.

Make sure it’s set to Show content and not “Icons only” or “Do not show”.

2. Enable Brief Pop-up / Edge Lighting

Go to Settings → Notifications → Brief pop-up settings (or Edge lighting style).

Turn on Show even when screen is off.

3. Check Always On Display (AOD)

If AOD is enabled in “Tap to show” or “Scheduled”, notifications won’t wake the screen.

Try setting it to Show always and see if notifications light up.

4. Check Battery & Power Saving

Go to Settings → Battery → Background usage limits.

Make sure your messaging app (like WhatsApp, Messages, etc.) is not restricted.

5. Safe Mode Test

Restart your phone in Safe Mode to check if a third-party app is blocking notification pop-ups.

If none of these work, try clearing cache in Recovery mode or wait for the next software update, as sometimes this is a One UI bug.
