Galaxy S
Samsung's rollout of One UI 7 on the Galaxy S24 series has brought a wave of excitement — and a fair share of frustration. While the update introduces sleeker animations and a modernized interface, many users are reporting noticeable issues that are hard to ignore, especially when it comes to battery life and system performance.
Idle Battery Drain: A Growing Concern
One of the most prominent complaints surfacing after the update is unusually high battery usage during idle conditions. Many S24 users have observed that even with minimal background activity and all power-saving measures in place, the battery drain is more aggressive compared to One UI 6.1. For a flagship series known for its robust battery management, this shift has sparked discontent in the community.
Smoother Animations — But Not Perfect
It’s clear that Samsung has focused on refining the visual experience in One UI 7. Animations feel smoother and transitions are more fluid, giving the interface a premium polish that users will appreciate. However, the work isn’t finished yet. Minor stutters and occasional lags are still present, particularly when multitasking or switching between heavy apps. The promise is there, but refinement is still needed to make it seamless.
Increased RAM Usage Raises Eyebrows
Another notable change is higher RAM consumption. Compared to One UI 6.1, One UI 7 appears to demand more memory to maintain its enhanced visual effects and background tasks. On devices with 8GB or less RAM, this is more noticeable — with more frequent app reloads and reduced available memory for multitasking. While this might not be a dealbreaker for users of higher storage variants, it’s certainly something Samsung needs to optimize in future patches.
The Bottom Line
Samsung’s One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series is a step forward in design and user experience, but it’s accompanied by teething issues that shouldn’t be overlooked. The increased battery drain in idle, higher RAM usage, and lingering lags detract from the overall polish of what could have been a near-perfect update.
For now, S24 users can only hope that Samsung acknowledges these concerns and rolls out a performance-focused patch soon. Until then, it’s a trade-off between enjoying smoother visuals and dealing with higher resource consumption.

Galaxy S
Yes, the battery issue in idle is excessive. I barely use my phone during work hours; after work, I need to charge it again before leaving. Coming to work at around 70%, by the end of the workday, the phone, just sitting there with barely any WhatsApp use, will be at 30-35%. One UI 6.1. I didn't have this problem before; now I have to charge twice a day. Sad.
