Is it just me or is the pricing on the range of the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G 256GB just too expensive? There are a lot of articles that announced how much Samsung is giving back to its customers this year. Claiming that the Samsung Exynos 2100 SoC is finally going to closely compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Benchmark testing showed this not to be true. They also announce that the base S21 will be $200 (~R3000) cheaper than last year's S20 series.

But here we are, basic contracts starting from R650+ for 36 months and easily R999 for 24 months! The AUDACITY. Did import tax and coronavirus virus really affect pricing for these phones in South Africa?

Maybe I'm overexaggerating, but as an S10e user, I'm simply not convinced that upgrading to the new range is both monetarily and spec-wise advisable. For a whopping R1000 per month, I'm not getting the supported 25w charger, or even the basic 15w charger. No earphones and no expendable storage. Same cameras as last year's flagship, just slimmer and blended into the phone's body. AND, I'm paying the same, if not more, for the '$200 cheaper than last year's flagship' phone.

If there is anything I learned this past year as a tech nerd and a fellow South African, is the value of savvy spending on gadget upgrades. This is just not ideal. I have run out of excuses to make for this type of pricing and marketing.

Please tell me what you think.

As for chargers you can simply reuse your current charger. I have too many chargers that I don't use that are lying around the house as I have bought charging stations to make it easier to manage and I have travel charger and a car charger. So not a problem to me.

In terms of processors, despite the benchmarks, a majority don't care about that as long as the phone performs well and has a long battery life. Most of us won't notice any difference between midrange and high range in usability especially for routine cases like social media browsing, calling, playing games, browsing the Internet, playing music and games. Only in cameras will it be notable but only those who are very picky about their photos but most of the photos end up on social media.

Anyway they A series is good enough for a majority of people and costs less. You actually don't need S series phone any more as the Galaxy A72 is probably the best phone to get. In most cases you can live without wireless charging and wireless dex.

Mine even gets hot very quickly especially during camera use. I regret buying into this device. The exynos chip is still inferior. The phone has been checked twice already. Nothing wrong with it apparently. So disappointed in Samsung right now. Anyone having the same problem as mine?
