Galaxy Sthe October security patch and, therefore, didn’t bring a fix for a critical vulnerability that affected the 2017 flagship.
The vulnerability in question wasn’t just discovered in the Galaxy S8, but it was one of three Galaxy phones included in the list of affected devices when the vulnerability was publicly revealed. Google’s fix for the vulnerability came as part of the October security patch, but Samsung is releasing it through the November update for all of its devices. The November patch should also plug a vulnerability in Samsung’s Camera app that can allow malicious apps to record photos and videos without the user’s content.
