S8 Plus Messages App

Since the last 2 days my default samsung messages app is freezing. As soon as I open the app, the app hangs and I cannot select any message to read or delete. The only option left is to go back to home screen. And this happens everytime. 
I have cleared the cache, force stop the app and even cleared the app storage but no luck. 
Anybody else facing the same issue?

Kindly help.
