Hi,

Pls check below things.

1. Is any NFC specific mode or routine enabled?
2. Have you updated the phone recently?
3. If you have updated your device recently, then try wiping cache partition by booting device into recovery mode and check if issue persists.

Hi AJ66,

That sounds frustrating, especially on a flagship device. Since you’ve already tried restarting and updating, here are a few specific things to check that often cause this behavior:

Check for Magnetic Cases: Are you using a MagSafe-style case or a wallet case with magnets? These can sometimes interfere with the NFC induction coil, causing the system to force it off to prevent errors. Try toggling it with the case removed. Clear NFC Service Cache: 1.  Go to Settings > Apps. 2.  Tap the "Filter and sort" icon and toggle on Show system apps. 3.  Find NFC or NFC Service. 4.  Go to Storage and tap Clear Cache, then Clear Data. (Restart your phone after this). Reset Network Settings: This refreshes all wireless connections (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC). Note: You will need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords afterward. Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings. Check "Contactless Payments" Settings: Ensure there isn't a conflicting app trying to take priority. Go to Settings > Connections > NFC and contactless payments > Contactless payments and see if any specific app is causing a hang-up.

If none of these work, it might be a hardware failure of the NFC antenna. Since the S24 Ultra is quite new, it should still be under warranty!

Thank you for contacting us. We understand that the NFC on your Galaxy S24 Ultra is automatically disabling itself and cannot be toggled on, despite restarting and updating the software.

To address this technical issue, please perform the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Reset Network Settings: This will refresh the connection protocols for NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi without deleting your personal data. Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings (Note: You may need to reconnect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices afterward).
  2. Check for Conflicting Apps: Sometimes third-party wallet or transit apps can interfere with the NFC toggle. Try uninstalling any recently added payment-related apps to see if the toggle stays active.
  3. Samsung Members Diagnostic: Open the Samsung Members app, tap Support > Phone diagnostics, and select NFC. This will confirm if the internal hardware sensor is responding correctly.
  4. Remove Third-Party Accessories: If you are using a magnetic case or a metallic accessory near the back of the phone, please remove it, as these can interfere with the NFC sensor’s ability to remain active.

If the NFC continues to disable itself after these steps, it may indicate a hardware-related matter. We recommend visiting one of our authorized Service Centers for a professional inspection: https://www.samsung.com/ae/support/service-center/
