I encountered an issue few days back where i was unable to download new or update my existing official apps from google play store or even from samsung store.

Every time the install / upgrade failed with cant install app error.

I tried many things, i made sure that playstore network preferences are properly set and let apps download and install over any network, no restrictions for download
+ Had all permissions to app
+playstore was on latest version
+Tried clearing catche and clearing data in app details but nothing worked
+Restarted phone several times
+i found that there is an app protection by knoxx in samsung which was responsible for not letting the apps to update, in fact some of my banking apps were directly uninstalled without my permission, and those banking apps were certified from google play store.

+I turned off the security scanning and app protection and it worked fine.

But then what about my security??
There is an issue with app protection in the latest build, i dont know what is causing or the setting is being very restrictive

@samsung need your help on root cause analysis and resolve thr issue

I am currently on latest update build for October 2024 update S23ultra, hope this gets fixed and i will be able to turn onn the app protection again, attaching the screenshot below:

I'm glad you were able to identify the issue with the App Protection feature by Knox and find a temporary workaround by disabling it.

*Potential Causes*

1. *Overly restrictive settings*: The App Protection feature might be too aggressive in blocking app installations or updates.
2. *Incompatibility with Google Play Store*: There could be a conflict between the Knox security suite and the Google Play Store.
3. *Bug in the latest build*: As you mentioned, there might be a bug in the latest update build for October 2024 that's causing this issue.

*Recommendations*

1. *Report the issue to Samsung*: Reach out to Samsung's customer support or visit their website to report the issue. Provide as much detail as possible, including your device model, software version, and the steps you've taken to troubleshoot.
2. *Check for updates*: Ensure you're running the latest software version. Sometimes, updates can resolve issues like this.
3. *Disable and re-enable App Protection*: Try disabling and re-enabling the App Protection feature to see if it resolves the issue.
4. *Reset Knox settings*: If you're comfortable doing so, you can try resetting the Knox settings to their default values.

*Security Concerns*

I understand your concern about disabling the App Protection feature. While it's essential to prioritize security, you can take alternative measures to ensure your device remains secure:

1. *Use Google Play Protect*: Enable Google Play Protect, which scans apps for malware and other threats.
2. *Install apps from trusted sources*: Only download apps from the Google Play Store or other trusted sources.
3. *Keep your device and apps up-to-date*: Regularly update your device's software and apps to ensure you have the latest security patches.

I hope this helps, and I'm sure Samsung will investigate and resolve the issue soon.
