I'm not sure what's happening with Samsung devices, this is my second Samsung device back to back where I had issues after owning the phone for about 2 years, 5 months and I had many Samsung devices before with no issues. My S22 cellphone battery started bulging.  This is not great after spending so much money, I don't have much confidence in their devices anymore:(

Battery bulging is indeed a serious issue, and it’s unfortunate to see it happening repeatedly on newer Samsung devices, especially since you’ve had positive experiences with their phones in the past. Bulging batteries typically result from lithium-ion cells degrading over time, which can be accelerated by heat, frequent charging, or even certain software optimizations.

Lately, Samsung, along with some other manufacturers, has been encountering reports of battery issues after about two years of use. In some cases, battery longevity might be impacted by newer materials or technology changes aimed at faster charging and improved performance. While such updates are great for initial usability, they sometimes trade off long-term battery stability.

If you're open to Samsung devices again, here are a few ways to improve battery longevity:

1. Avoid overcharging overnight: Although modern phones are designed to handle this, charging for prolonged periods at high battery levels can add stress.

2. Temperature management: Try to keep the device cool. Excessive heat (from direct sunlight or heavy app usage) can impact battery health.

3. Battery health monitoring apps: These can alert you early if there's a rapid degradation.

4. Routine battery replacements: Given that battery life can be unpredictable, scheduling a replacement around the 2-year mark could save you from sudden issues like bulging.

But it's absolutely valid if you're considering other brands now. Have you looked into replacement options for your S22, or are you planning to switch to something else entirely?

Replacing the battery might be your cheapest option unless, your current phone doesn't meet your needs anymore.

Thank you for the feedback, I've just gotten my phone back. I took it to a repair centre to replace the battery.

Thus far, the new battery doesn't heat up like before while using the device and when It's on charge. The worst thing is having to spend more money on an already expensive phone.
