My s20 plus fell at the swimming pool and then I immediately switched it off. I kept my phone in the rice bag for around 7 to 8 hours and then I  tried switching it on but it was not happening. It was kept switced off for the next 7 days. When I was about to visit the service center, I tried switching it on for the one last time and to my surprise it just switched on unexpectedly.  My phone works absolutely fine now except that my vodafone sim is not getting registered on any network. I tried my friend's jio and Airtel sim and that is working absolutely fine. Only Vodafone sim is not getting registered on any network. I tried my dad's vodafone sim too and that is also not working.

Please share your inputs if you have any idea about this.

Thanks.

S 20 plus is supposed to have ip68 water proof rating. It should have worked fine even without the rice bag treatment.

I realised later that there was a small gap on the back panel through which water went inside...I guess becauseof my hard cover whenever i open the cover there is some pressure applied on the back panel which created the gap.

Oh yes, removing and replacing the back case can cause this issue. Anyways since your phone is out of warranty and even in warranty they won't cover water damage, I think you should not go to service center as of now.

my last option is to port my sim to airtel or jio because that is worming absolutely fine.

Probably some error with SIM initialisation process coz it had moisture, 🤔 maybe. Put the sim and disable the "automatic" in network selection settings, select Vodafone manually n check if it works
2) Try "resetting the settings without deleting" option in settings, then put Sim n check? Screenshot_20220310-223158_Call settings_18894_1646931719.jpg
