same thing but for my s8 5g tab (stuck on 4.1.1)

maybe try deleting cache or using smart switch pc connect to phone to check for updates.

Try without Sim card first

Then smart switch on pc

After that go ahead and do a soft reset first then a hard one

for the SIM card, do I take it out and restart the device or what?

Try using smart switch, it's worked on mine s20+ to latest one ui 5.1
