That's a clever idea to create a routine that reminds you to turn on a setting when you connect a cable to your phone!

Unfortunately, with Samsung's built-in Routines feature (or Bixby Routines), you can't directly detect when a cable is connected to your phone as a trigger. The available triggers are more limited (e.g., location, time, Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth device, app launch). The main trigger is the USB Cable. This trigger only setup the routine when the cable is disconnected. This is a big limitation for what you are trying to do.

However, here's a workaround that might get you close to your goal, along with suggestions for alternative apps:

Workaround using Samsung Routines (less ideal, but might work):

Trigger: Choose "Charging status" as the trigger.

Action: Add an action to "Play sound" (choose a sound you'll recognize).

Limitations: This will only trigger when charging begins, not simply when the cable is connected. It also won't differentiate between wired and wireless charging. But, if you always plug in your phone to charge, this might be sufficient.

Alternative Apps:

To get the exact functionality you want (detecting a cable connection), you'll need to use a more powerful automation app like Tasker or Macrodroid. These apps offer more advanced triggers and actions, including the ability to detect USB cable connections. I do not use 3rd party app.

Here's how you could set it up using Tasker (the steps would be similar in Macrodroid):

Install Tasker: Download and install Tasker from the Google Play Store. Note: Tasker has a steeper learning curve than Samsung Routines.

Create a Profile:

Open Tasker and tap the "+" button to create a new profile.

Select "State" as the context.

Choose "Hardware" -> "Docked."

Select "Any" for the dock type (this should trigger for any USB connection).

Tap the back arrow to return to the profile configuration.

Create a Task:

Tap "New Task" and give your task a name (e.g., "Cable Reminder").

Tap the "+" button to add an action.

Select "Media" -> "Music Play."

Choose the sound file you want to play as the reminder.

Adjust the volume and other settings as desired.

Tap the back arrow to return to the task configuration.

Link the Profile and Task:

Tasker will automatically link the profile (cable connected) to the task (play sound).

Ensure that Tasker is enabled in the accessibility settings (Tasker will prompt you to do this if it's not enabled).

Now, whenever you connect a USB cable to your phone, Tasker will play the sound, reminding you to switch on your setting.

While Samsung Routines is convenient, Tasker or Macrodroid will give you the precise control you need to achieve your desired automation.

Hello Hari 👋
You can create an automation routine in Samsung’s Modes & Routines app to make a sound if you forget to switch on the device after connecting the charger. Here's how:

📌 Steps to Create the Routine:

1️⃣ Open Modes & Routines app on your Samsung device.
2️⃣ Tap Routines → Create Routine ().
3️⃣ Under If condition:

Select Charger connected.
4️⃣ Under Then action:

Tap Play Sound → Choose an alert sound.
5️⃣ (Optional) Add a delay (e.g., 1-2 minutes) before playing the sound.
6️⃣ Save and enable the routine.

🛠️ Alternative Apps for Automation:

Tasker (Advanced automation for Android)
MacroDroid (Easier alternative to Tasker)

💡 In Tasker/MacroDroid, you can set a trigger for “Charger Connected” and an action to check if the screen is off for a certain time, then play a sound. 🔊
