Apple is supporting the SW up to 6 years, agree But u will replace the battery twice or trice during this period. You will deal with a very old processor. The updates by apple doesn't include the new featureS, if u read carefully their release notes, you will find they mention in a tiny font some updates are only for 2 years old models. And to be honest, ONE UI is far better than IOS in many aspects, what apple claims to add now it is already in ONE UI.
One user is great UI NO Doubt I have galaxy s9 plus and it is excellent and strong and it can handle the new update for android 11. I have also i phone 6s and thus device before few days was included in Apple list for IOS15 the device still working perfectly with IOS14.6 SO you can compare the device support between both companies.
