One UI 8.5 is expected to be released with the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. It is a point update to One UI 8.0, which is based on Android 16. The One UI 8.5 beta program is rumored to begin in the final week of November 2025.
Some of the new features and enhancements expected in One UI 8.5 include:
Visual Changes: A new subtle animation for the Always On Display, three new clock styles for the lock screen, and a refined user interface in some stock apps like Gallery and Phone. App icons may also have a subtle 3D effect.
AI Features: An automatic call screening feature, similar to Google's Pixel phones, and AI-powered notification summaries.
Customization: A fully customizable Quick Settings panel, allowing users to resize and rearrange toggles and widgets.
Other Features: A new Family Device Sharing feature, new Wi-Fi connectivity options for improved stability, and a native double back-tap gesture. The update will also include significant camera app enhancements, such as LUT profiles and support for 3D spatial recording. Samsung Cloud is also returning as a backup option for the Gallery app.
