After updating my s24 ultra to one ui 8 my phone connects to my cars bluetooth system automatically for calls only and not audio before the update it would connect automatically for both now i need to manually turn on the audio connection. I tried resetting wifi/Bluetooth, clear Bluetooth cache/data, unpair/pair and even tried on a different s24 ultra which also has one ui 8 nothing worked.

Thank you for contacting us and sharing your concern regarding your Bluetooth issue.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps below to address the problem. After completing all steps, check whether the issue has been resolved or if it still exists.

It appears the One UI 8 update on the Galaxy S24 Ultra is affecting how Bluetooth profiles connect to certain car systems. Specifically, it defaults to the Hands-Free Profile (HFP) for calls, but requires manual input for the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) for media audio.

Since you have already tried basic troubleshooting (resets, re-pairing, etc.) and replicated the issue on another device, this points to a systemic bug in One UI 8 rather than an isolated setting on your phone.

Further Steps and Explanations:

1. Advanced Troubleshooting (Specific Settings Check)
Double-check these specific settings within the advanced Bluetooth menu:

  • Ensure Both Profiles Are Enabled Manually:

    • Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.

    • Tap the gear icon (Settings) next to your car’s Bluetooth entry.

    • Ensure both “Calls” and “Audio media” toggles are turned On. The update may have defaulted one to Off.

  • Toggle “Dual Audio” (if available):

    • Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > (three dots menu) Advanced > Dual audio and ensure it is Off.

  • Developer Options Check:
The update may have affected the default Bluetooth codec or version:

    • Enable Developer Options if not already enabled (Settings > About phone > Software information > tap Build number repeatedly).

    • Go to Settings > Developer options.

    • Scroll to the Networking section and locate “Bluetooth AVRCP Version”.

    • Your car system may require an older version (e.g., 1.4 or 1.3). Try changing to an older version to force compatibility.

2. Likely Cause: One UI 8 Bug
Given your troubleshooting and the fact that a second S24 Ultra with One UI 8 shows the same behavior, the most probable cause is a change in Bluetooth connection priority or profile handling introduced in One UI 8 that your car system does not fully support.

3. Workaround Until a Fix
Until Samsung provides an official fix, you can:

  • Manually enable the media audio connection in Bluetooth settings each time you connect, or

  • Use Android Auto via USB if your car supports it for automatic media connection.

Thanks for the reply, but nothing worked for me. I also contacted samsung support, and they gave me a several troubleshooting steps to try such as booting in safe mode and factory resetting the device which also didn't work. So I'm 100% sure it's a software issue.

Im also having this issue on my 2012 mazda 3, had to go back to my old sony phone for music in the car. I have also contacted customer support and gave a detailed breakdown of the issue. I dont think they are going to fix it anytime soon.
