Samsung Electronics' artificial human project'Neon' begins business cooperation with domestic partners

The'Artificial Human' project'NEON' of'STAR Labs', a venture organization for future technology commercialization of Samsung Electronics, has begun business cooperation with domestic strategic partners.

Neon artificial humans, which were first unveiled at'CES 2020', the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, in January this year, are virtual entities, but they can respond to users with real human-like shapes and expressions and learn memories.

'CORE R3' software, which provides the natural shape and behavior of artificial humans such as reality in realtime and responsive, is the core technology being developed at StarLabs.

Using this technology, Neon can become an AI anchor that delivers personalized news or a shopping host that recommends products. In addition, it can be a clerk who helps employees in stores or airports to provide customer service, or it can be a friend who communicates with users and helps them.

In the future, Star Labs plans to provide two service models for businesses using neon.

One is the'NEON Content Creation' service model using neon, and it plans to provide new types of video content in various fields such as media, education, and retail.

Another is the'NEON WorkForce' model, a customer service service that can provide new customer experiences in app, web, and retail environments.

In this regard, Samsung Electronics Star Labs signed a business agreement (MOU) with CJ OliveNetworks on the 23rd for artificial human business cooperation.

Through this agreement, which was held through untouched, the two companies agreed to jointly cooperate with artificial human AI technology and artificial human-based media business, and plan to actively cooperate with matters necessary for mutual development and promotion of friendship.

CJ plans to proactively respond to the rapidly changing media content industry using neon, and plans to select a virtual influencer as the first project to create a new type of content together.

In-hyuk Cha, CEO of CJ OliveNetworks, who is also the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of CJ Group, said, “The artificial human field is also rapidly growing due to the innovative development of the artificial intelligence field. “We will respond to changing visual content trends and new consumer needs by adding IT capabilities such as AI and big data possessed by CJ OliveNetworks to the neon lights and the content production competitiveness of CJ Group.”

"We are pleased to collaborate with CJ, the K-content leader," said Pranab Mistry, director of Samsung Electronics' Star Labs. "Neon's technology will bring a new change in the way and scale of content production." Said.

Star Labs plans to sign a business agreement with a domestic financial company in the near future to provide convenient financial services to customers, and will provide new and more convenient experiences to customers in each field through the advancement of Neon's artificial human technology.
