Galaxy SThank you for contacting us and sharing your concern.
You need to perform the troubleshooting steps below to solve the problem. After completing all the steps, check if the issue is resolved or if it still exists.
Troubleshooting Steps to Regain Control
Since you cannot factory reset from the settings menu, you need to address the underlying cause or perform a physical reset.
-
Check for Device Admin Apps
The first step is to identify and disable any app managing your device.
Go to Settings > Security and privacy. Scroll down and tap "More security settings" (or similar, depending on your phone model). Tap "Device admin apps".
If you see any apps listed there that you don't recognize or that look like management software, deactivate them by tapping the toggle switch to off or selecting "Deactivate". After deactivating, try accessing the Play Store and performing a factory reset from the settings menu again. -
Remove Your Google Account
Factory Reset Protection (FRP) can sometimes interfere with the reset process.
Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts. Select your Google account(s) and tap Remove account. Restart your phone and try the factory reset from the settings menu again. -
Perform a Hard Factory Reset (Recovery Mode)
If the software restrictions prevent you from resetting within the Settings menu, you can force a reset using the physical buttons. This will erase all data on the phone.
Back up all your data if possible, as this process will wipe the device. Turn off your phone completely. Connect your phone to a computer using a USB cable (this is essential for newer Samsung models to enter recovery mode).
Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Power/Side button simultaneously. Release the buttons when you see the Samsung logo or the Android Recovery screen.
Use the Volume Down button to navigate the menu until you highlight "Wipe data/factory reset". Press the Power button to select it. Use the volume buttons to highlight "Yes" (or "Factory data reset") and press the Power button to confirm. Once the process is complete, highlight "Reboot system now" and press the Power button.
