Might as well check for these ;
•Bluetooth Disconnect: The pen has lost its wireless handshake with the device (reconnect via Settings). Low •Power: The pen’s internal supercapacitor is drained and needs a 40-second charge in the dock. Magnetic •Cases: Third-party cases with magnets often disrupt the pen's signal. Software •Glitch: The "Air Actions" system app is outdated or needs a "Pen Reset." Hardware Damage: The internal gyro-sensors are broken from a drop (even if writing still works).

Sometimes it might be because the phone is a refurb so the pen will not connect
Try looking for a new pen that supports Bluetooth
