It sounds like your Galaxy S24 Ultra's zoom camera isn't performing as expected, especially at higher zoom levels in both daylight and low light. While the S24 Ultra generally has solid zoom capabilities, you can try a few steps to potentially improve the quality and consistency of your zoomed-in shots.

1. Software Updates

Check for Updates: Go to Settings > Software Update to ensure your phone is on the latest software version. Samsung often releases camera performance improvements through updates.

2. Camera Settings Optimization

Reset Camera Settings: Sometimes, custom camera settings can impact image quality. Open the Camera app > Settings > Reset Settings to reset them to default. This will ensure the camera operates at optimal defaults.

Enable Scene Optimizer: Scene Optimizer can automatically enhance images depending on lighting conditions, which might help your zoom performance. Make sure it’s enabled under Camera Settings > Scene Optimizer.

3. Zoom-Specific Tips

Use Intermediate Zoom Levels: The S24 Ultra has specific zoom steps (such as 3x, 10x) where the dedicated telephoto lenses are optimized. Jumping to a non-standard zoom level (e.g., 8x or 20x) can sometimes use digital zoom, which is less sharp.

Use Pro Mode for High Zoom: If you are comfortable with manual settings, try using Pro Mode for better control over focus, ISO, and shutter speed at high zoom levels. Lower ISO and a faster shutter speed can improve clarity in brighter conditions.

4. Low-Light Tips

Try Night Mode with Moderate Zoom: The zoomed-in Night Mode might not perform well at very high zoom levels. Try limiting it to 3x or 10x and ensure your hands are steady or use a tripod.

Reduce Zoom Levels at Night: In low light, extreme zoom tends to struggle even on high-end cameras. Consider sticking to moderate zoom levels, as digital noise and stabilization issues tend to worsen at higher levels.

5. Clear Camera Lens and Check for Physical Issues

Sometimes a lens may have dust or smudges that impact image quality. Clean the camera lens with a microfiber cloth and check for any physical damage, especially to the telephoto lenses, as any damage can affect zoom.

6. Test with a Different Camera App

Try a third-party camera app like Google Camera (GCam). This app can sometimes produce sharper zoomed-in photos, though results vary by device.

If none of these steps improve your zoom performance, you might want to consult Samsung support. In rare cases, there could be a hardware defect affecting the telephoto lenses.
