Hi, Yashna_ there are many reasons why your Samsung phone or tablet may become hot, and this does not suggest that it is faulty. If your device is overheating it will display a notification indicating that it is getting hot. If your device is getting too hot it will shut itself down. If there is no warning notification, then your device is fine.
The most common reasons for a device becoming hot are:
Your device is charging
Your device is running a power-intensive app
Your device is being used in a case or cover
A software update is available for your device
Your device is being used in hot weather
If your device is getting too hot or is becoming uncomfortable to handle, there are a few things you can try to reduce the temperature.
1. Is your device charging?
It is normal for your device to heat up slightly as it charges. Remove the charger from your device and see if the device cools down.
2. Are you playing games, streaming music or video?
Some apps such as games and streaming services are power-intensive and can cause your device to heat up, especially during extended use. Closing these apps may help your device to cool down.
Please note: you should close any apps that you are not using. Your apps will continue to use some of the battery and processing power of your device, even if they aren’t in use.
3. Are you using an adaptive refresh rate?
Adaptive refresh rates automatically adjust the refresh rate of your screen depending on the app that you're using. Using a power-intensive app while your screen is set to an adaptive refresh rate can cause your device to heat up. Try adjusting the refresh rate of your device to the default of 60Hz and see if the temperature decreases.
4. Are you using a case or cover?
If your device is within a case or cover it may be increasing the temperature. Try removing the case to give your device more space to cool.
If you are using your phone in hot weather or exposing it to direct sunlight, it is likely to increase in temperature. Try moving your device out of the sun and give it time to cool down.Find out more about using your device in hot weather.
