I recently bought a second-hand Samsung S22 Plus after three years of sticking with another phone. The device came with only a checking warranty. Just three months in, with no physical damage or even a software update, a **bleep** green line shows up on the screen. Now, I'm being told I have to replace the whole screen. What the hell, Samsung? Why did I even bother switching back? I'm seriously pissed off at this brand right now

Maybe you should have done your research before buying a second-hand phone known to have green line issues. I understand that the greenline issue is frustrating. Even my phone has the issue, but you have gone and bought a used phone with no proper warranty and are now scolding Samsung for your own mistake. That's not right.

Also, people are still under the misconception that the green line comes from updating the phone. Yes, it's true, but it's nothing to do with the content of the update. The green line mainly occurs due to overheating, which affects the connectors of the display ribbons. Simply playing too much of a game can trigger this issue as well, anything that contributes to overheating will cause this issue.

I understand your point, but in Sri Lanka, the second-hand market is a good option for those of us on a budget. It's not about trusting the seller but trusting the brand, which is why I went with Samsung. I checked the phone thoroughly before buying, and it was in perfect condition. This green line issue is clearly a manufacturing defect.

I don’t play games or do anything intensive; I mostly just scroll through social media. So, overheating from my usage isn't the cause. It’s frustrating to deal with a screen issue when I expected reliability from a well-known brand. That’s why I feel justified in my disappointment with Samsung

Like I said, you are trusting the seller's word. He could have had a green line and removed it with the laser machine which is becoming popular in SL now, the previous owner could have played a lot of games and used it in a way that the phone over heats, how can u even check such facts? You can't. You are relying on a seller's word, and the seller will do anything to sell his product.

I am totally with you about Samaung being responsible for the green line issues, but it's not just them, even iphones and other companies have the same issue going around. In this particular scenario, you can't totally blame Samsung alone for the greenline.

I understand your concern, but I've been buying from this seller for over 7 years, and they've always been reliable. The phone I bought was a showroom display unit from Singapore, and it didn’t have a single scratch on it when I checked. Given my history of changing phones every 6 months and trying different brands, I know what to look for in a phone’s condition. My previous Samsung device was a Note 10 Plus, and it had no issues like this.

I totally agree that other brands like iPhones also face similar problems, but in this case, the green line issue occurred despite the phone being in perfect condition and not being used intensively. While I get that you can't check every little thing with a second-hand phone, this particular issue seems to stem from Samsung’s manufacturing, not just from how it was used before.

You answered your own issue, it was a display unit, so the display was used a lot in the shop. Yes no scratches on the body, but the screen was used day in and day out. Anyway good luck with your next phone. Maybe you should try a more reliable brand
