I have set fingerprint lock with PIN, my question is why after restarting or power off/on, we need to put PIN to unlock, why Fingerprint doesn't work? What the reason and purpose of this?

Why? What's the logic?

If PIN can work after a restart than why not Fingerprint? How is this threat to security in any way?

Another thing is, what if someone forget its PIN, how to unlock it now?

It's been there since Marshmallow, though - ever since Google implemented Nexus Imprint and started supporting fingerprint authentication natively. It works like a 2 step authentication. Fingerprints are stored encrypted in your device and the PIN/password/pattern is required upon restart (or if you haven't used the device in 48 hrs) to decrypt the fingerprint data and gain access. Fingerprints can be 'copied' or rather spoofed pretty easily, given how we leave our finger prints everywhere. PIN/PW/Pattern on the other hand stays in our brain 😅

oh and if you forget your PIN/PW/pattern, you have to log in to your Google account by entering the PW

Thank you for sharing your query. We would like to inform you that when you restart your device or power on your device then biometric lock will not work and you need to enter your Back-up password.
