As a dedicated Samsung user for the past 10+ years who loves new samsung updates, I have to say the One ui 7 is appalling.
Why do I feel that samsung is trying to be more like Iphone ?
If I wanted an Iphone I would have bought one.
Atleast if we had the choice to keep some things original (like the search bar placement, app icons, swipe down for notifications or the atleast be able to remove "seconds" from the widget clock) life would be grand.

Ive had the update for a few days and the amount of comments ive gotten from Iphone users (IT work colleagues) calling it "the cheap man's Iphone" upsets me deeply
I have no problem with Iphone, it is a good phone, but the UI and user ability is the reason I would have never chosen it in the first place.

Since Samsung is becoming a "cheap man's Iphone," I might as well convert over instead.

Sidenote: Like I mentioned, I'm in IT, Im sick of users complaining to us on why they cant access their settings or notifications from the swipe-down menu, why everything looks different and If I can change it back.. Cause no.. I can't

(This is my personal view, I'm glad people love the new update, but I do hope Samsung would implement customization on these "new" features)

The problem with Iphone is that the ecosystem is very selfish with third party accessories like watches, speakers and earbuds. It limits certain features to encourage you to use Apple accessories.

I appreciate your long-term dedication to Samsung... it's true that UI updates can be a big shift. Perhaps this is Samsung's way of trying to offer something that appeals to an even broader audience, and we all have the freedom to choose what best fits our needs.

I hear your frustration with those "cheap man's iphone" comments. I think it's important to remember that both platforms have their unique strengths and innovation often means drawing inspiration from different places. Ultimately, competition drives progress for everyone.

It's a shame that some people are dismissive with comments like " cheap man's iphone" Samsung has always been a leader in innovation & even if there are design similarities, the underlying features and hardware still offer a distinct and valuable experience.

Iphone can't function without Samsung because every iphone has Samsung part in it for instance... OLED display, memory chips also from Samsung. 😅

Next time they call it the "cheap man's iPhone"you remind them that Samsung makes the iphone's display's.And the iPhone is years behind in terms of innovation when it comes to Android. They need to humble themselves

I understand and respect your view and opinion but I have to disagree with some of that.

Firstly I don't think One UI 7 is appalling. I find it to be really great. Search bar being at the bottom is great as it helps in one hand usage which Samsung has been know to prioritise. The new icons looks nothing like iPhone or Apple's icons so I don't understand the comparison. When it comes to clock widgets there are many and you can choose the one which does not show seconds. When it comes to swipe down on left and right for notifications and quick settings I understand why some may be frustrated with the change but one of the great things when it comes to Samsung is that it offers you options. You don't have to take or use the default settings so if you don't like the new style you can always change it back to what you are used to.

I do not understand the comparison between the two and why you are bothered by the "cheap man's iPhone" comment. People will always find something to comment about other brand be it Samsung, iPhone, Huawei, etc.

Lastly all the brand copy features from others all the time. There are many features that iPhone took from Android. They may implement it their own way but the fact remains that they copy it from others. Samsung also do the same but what I like about them is that they give you options to change what you don't like.

That's my view on the issue.
