Emergency eSIM Activation via SMS

I would like to propose a simple concept for emergency connectivity.

If a user loses internet access but still has basic SMS capability, the device could send its EID via SMS to the telecom operator. This message could act as a trigger to temporarily activate an eSIM profile.

Once activated, the device could open a minimal emergency data channel to allow essential communication, location sharing, or digital identity verification.

Such a system could be extremely valuable during disasters when internet infrastructure is unavailable.

This concept may require collaboration between smartphone manufacturers, telecom operators, and standards organizations, but it could significantly improve emergency connectivity worldwide.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful and innovative suggestion.

Your idea about enabling emergency eSIM activation via SMS is very insightful, especially for scenarios where internet connectivity is unavailable but basic network services are still accessible. Concepts like this could indeed enhance emergency communication and user safety during critical situations.

At the moment, such functionality would require coordination between device manufacturers, mobile network operators, and global standardization bodies, as it involves network-level provisioning, security protocols, and regulatory considerations.

We truly appreciate you taking the time to share this idea. Suggestions like yours are valuable and help contribute to future improvements. We recommend continuing to share your feedback through official Samsung channels such as the Samsung Members app under the “Feedback” section, where it can be reviewed by the relevant teams.

Thank you again for your contribution.
