Dex not working

Samsung Dex is not showing up on the the laptop when I connect my Samsung galaxy s8 via hdmi to usb type C cable.

Dex on Laptop doesn't work with HDMI... since Laptops have HDMI Output...

To use dex on Laptop, download the Dex app for Windows/Mac on Laptop and connected your phone normally through USB.

Connect you phone USB to laptop USB port. And keep your phone unlocked and accept the required prompts.

No prompt is coming. That's what the problem is. Even if I open dex pc app.

When I connect through USB without opening dex, only the drive opens up for file transfer.

Is dex turned on from your phone?
Settings > Advance Feature > Dex (turn that on)

Hey sorry to say. I just saw that you have S8... so for S8 u need Dex station and there is no connectivity for dex to a laptop.

However you can use DEX on a TV or Monitor by directly connecting the phone via HDMI to USB C..

Dex laptop is only supported by the devices which have wireless dex... and i guess thats from Note 9 or s10 and above devices..

It's nothing like that, there are somany videos on youtube where s8 connects smoothly without any dex station, just over cable!
