A fair number of Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra owners have been complaining about issues with wireless charging following the most recent firmware updates. An increasing number of owners have brought the issue to light on official and unofficial forums, and from what we can tell, the problem seemingly occurs only with some, but not all third-party chargers.

We haven’t experienced these issues with our Galaxy S20 and/or Galaxy Note 20 series phones but according to user reports, the problem consists of wireless charging getting constant interruptions every few seconds. Affected users all claim that they were able to wirelessly recharge their phones using the same third-party chargers in the past, however, the issue started cropping up after one of the recent firmware updates.

It’s unclear exactly what update may be causing this wireless charging problem for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 lineup, and judging by user reports, most cases affect only the Ultra models. Looking at the timeline of events, the culprit might be the September 2020 or the October 2020 security patch.

Affected users claim to have tried everything, from rebooting the device to clearing the cache and factory resetting, without getting any results. The issue appears to be spreading but so far it seemingly affects a relatively small number of Galaxy S20 / Galaxy Note 20 owners compared to the number of units that have been sold worldwide. Or perhaps the issue exists for a lot more users but it remains hidden to those who don’t use wireless charging on a regular basis or at all. Have you experienced any wireless charging issues with your Galaxy S20 / Galaxy Note 20 model? Let us know in the comment section.
